Chipped or damaged teeth, discolourations and gaps between your teeth can change the way you feel about yourself. If your someone that’s self-confidence is affected by the appearance of your teeth, you may be considering dental veneers. Dental veneers are a type of cosmetic dentistry that cover your existing teeth to hide common problems with a new, whiter and brighter finish. At Dental Express London, Dr. Maurer can offer a quick assessment if dental veneers are the best suitable solution and option available for you.

You might be interested in dental veneers if:

  •     You have chipped or broken teeth.
  •     Your teeth are discoloured.
  •     You have gaps between your teeth.
  •     Your teeth have become worn down.
  •     You have misaligned or irregularly shaped teeth.

There are two kinds of dental veneers we offer:

Zirconia veneers which are long-lasting, natural looking teeth that we personalise when designing to the finest detail to look just like natural teeth. These are usually fitted in two appointments and require some of the existing enamel to be removed in order to adhere the veneers directly to your teeth.

We can offer SAME DAY VEENERS for exceptional looking bright smiles just before your dinner time. We offer the conventional second appointment veneers as well for the ones that are just concerned with regaining their natural smile, improving their current self. We like to answer all the needs of our clients be it an express top-quality work or a relaxed but just as detailed work.

Ultra-thin veneers are about 0.2 mm – 0.3 mm think in comparison with a normal veneer which starts at 0.5 mm. These require no preparation needed to the most minimal roughening of the enamel surface along the margins which is necessary for a good bond between the two surfaces when the ultra-high gloss of your natural enamel has been removed. On your consultation with our principal dentist he will analysis the teeth’s condition and recommend if this would be a good option for you.

Composite veneers can be applied in one visit at a much more cost-efficient price. Layers of resin are applied directly to the tooth, masking any chip or any damaged enamel in general, which is then sculpted to the correct shape and size to look just like natural teeth. Composite veneers are a good option for a chipped or cracked tooth, stained or slightly damaged teeth. They are also a more cost friendly option if you don’t want to fully invest in zirconia veneers.

What are dental veneers made from?

Zirconia is a crystal which makes it not so susceptible to stains as composite veneers, and their overall appearance is also brighter and shinier.

Composite veneers are made from a tooth coloured resin (similar to that used for tooth fillings) and are close to plastic in nature. As resin is porous, it is sensitive to stains. If you have composite veneers fitted is advised that you regularly have them professionally polished by the dentist.

How long do dental veneers last?

Dental veneers are a durable way to improve your smile and their bright fresh appearance depends on your dental care routine, lifestyle and the type of veneer you have had fitted. Dr Maurer can guarantee 10-20 years, while composite veneers should last between four to eight years. If you have regular check-ups as advised for your situation that will ensure your veneers to be long lasting and a good oral health in general.

How do I get dental veneers?

Zirconium veneers are an irreversible dental procedure, so it’s important that you speak to Dr Maurer which will give you a detailed examination of your teeth and gums as well as your best options for your case. Dental Express London offers zirconium veneers fitted in two appointments, as the veneers are created to your unique specifications in our in-house dental laboratory.

For the first appointment, your dentist will clean the teeth (or tooth) and a small amount of enamel is removed at this stage in order to adhere your veneers to your natural teeth. At this stage we would take a digital intra-oral scan of your teeth and proceed to designing them. If you are scheduled for a second appointment, Dr Maurer will create temporary composite veneers so you would leave always able to smile and comfortable with carrying out your normal routine. He is very skilled in the art of sculpting teeth that look perfectly natural and matching the rest. Patience and perfectionism are a couple of our values which is why we care that even your temporary work looks just as beautiful as the permanent one.

Once you are ready to be fitted with your unique zirconium veneers, teeth will be cleaned and polished and a special adhesive which requires light curing for at least 60 seconds is placed on your teeth to be able to bond with the veneers. Any excess material is removed and your teeth are cleaned and polished to ensure the perfect, natural finish.

How do I care for my dental veneers?

About one to two weeks after your dental veneers have been fitted, our principal dentist will see you for a review to examine your gums and answer any queries you may have.

You should think of your veneers as you would about your own teeth, so brushing with a non-abrasive toothpaste and flossing. Like normal teeth, you should avoid as much as possible black coffee, smoking or foods that may stain. Zirconia veneers are less likely to stain but if you would take care of them like your normal teeth they should last you a life time.

If your lifestyle is more indulgent than remember to have a good communication with your dentists and schedule a check up at least once a year as well as a hygiene service.
